Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Tiguan MY 2012 - Adaptive Chassis Control - Is it worth it?

    Dear all,

I'm contemplating adding on the DCC (Dynamic Adaptive Chassis Control) to my Build to Order Tiggy. I'm not sure if this has been discussed previously in this forum, but I'm wanting to gauge it's worth from fellow Tiguan owners who have it installed on their respective cars. Does it really make any difference?

Briefly, I have optioned the 18" New York alloys, which, i'm assuming will probably give the standard shock absorbers a bit of a work out on Sydney roads.

1). Is DCC really worth it? - more so that the car will be travelling on Sydney Roads, which aren't all too great.
2). Has anyone had issues with DCC in terms of servicing?

I see it this way, the more tech in a car means increased $$$ servicing costs.... in any case the $1650 gouging for DCC isn't too bad compared to the RNS 510 Sat Nav option for $3000!!

    I welcome everyone's feedback

    Thanks again

    Hi mate,

Well my only experiences with the adaptive chasis control is on Golfs.

My friends has it on his 118TSI, and reckons it is great. Really like it.

I have driven two GTI s with it fitted at Eastern Creek, then driven another GTI without it fitted and I really noticed the difference in things 'tightening' up depending on the setting.

I would say...go for it...(easy for me to spend your money hey??)

But if you have already optioned things like the 18" wheels, then a considerable amount seem to be have been spent on upspeccing this car...what is another $1650??

Happy choosing and .....waiting for it to arrive.............................

I have ACC on my 2011 Tig with 18" wheels. I use the sport mode when I'm playing and comfort when on highways. I have to say there is a minor difference in the feel. If I had my time again I wouldn't buy it.

Optioned on my Golf R and love it! This decision was based on the sporty characteristics of the R - it being a stiffer ride - wanted the option to soften when dealing with city roads/highway cruising (main reason) and then stiffen when navigating some mountain twisty’s.

I too have a Tig on order but didn't tick this option as I really don't think it would add much value to the factory suspension set-up for the money (ie. sport mode would not turn it into a race car) + obviously have a quick, sporty car anyway. However, I suggest test driving a Tig with DCC and judging for yourself (if you can find one?)

By the way, have you been informed of a build date yet? I've been told Jan 12.....

          Hi bud,

Thanks for your feedback. Hmmm... yes.. waiting..... for the car to arrive. I can only assume, the more spec'd.. the longer the waiting time.

Thanks for your feedback. I thought it would make a huge difference because of the 18" tyres. Doesn't the comfort mode iron out all the rough coarse Sydney roads? I've been told the stock standard suspension on the Tiggy's are quite good, but on rough surfaces can feel quite a bit "jiggly". If it's only a "Minor" improvement.....sounds like it's not a huge biggy to have it

          Hi mate,

I ordered my car on the day of the MY 2012 release, Oct 22. I was told, worst case estimate.... June 2012!!! No build date has been provided. I bought mine from Barloworld Fivedock. The day I bought my car, the stock floor Tiggy's were selling like hotcakes, but those who ordered spec'ed Tiggy's where told worst case, 2nd Quarter of 2012

I requested a NADCON screen shot of my order and my car is still in DLRSPEC mode. It hasn't even reached the production line!! I dare say, if i did end up adding the DCC on my 103 TDI, I most definitely would be getting the car towards the end of June 2012

Based on the current feedback it sounds like it DCC won't make a huge difference for an extra $1650. I wasn't expecting the Tiggy to be a sports car, but thought with the 18" tyres and our crappy Sydney roads, DCC it would've made a huge difference to the ride quality. Anyways, i'll see if i can test drive a Tiggy with DCC.. IF I CAN FIND ONE!.. i still have a better part of 6 months to wait for my car.

It also sharpens steering & throttle response as well.

But TBH ... not much of a difference on a Tig with 19" wheels.

But at the time it was just a $1,300 option only and BFB compared to price tag on other options.
