    Cooling Fans running after engine shutdown

    Hi all...
    Been following this thread for some months now....
    I am a new owner of a Tig... diesel 2011 dsg etc..
    My first question....
    I have just run clocked 1000km.....
    On the way home home today I noticed that the tig smelt warmer then normal.....Not a hot afternoon in Adelaide low 20s....
    On arrival at home all seemed well...
    Put tig to bed for the night in the shed...
    As I walked away I could hear a faint buzzing sound...
    On closer inspection the twin fans where spinning..
    This is the first time I have had this happen and was a little taken back as I had the keys and tig was all locked down...
    I unlocked tig and started her up...All good no sign over a over heating problem etc...
    Turned her off and poped the hood...
    The electric fans stayed on....
    mmm
    They stayed on for about 4 mins...
    Is this normal.....?

    Yes, it's normal. Nothing to worry about. Whilst it may not be a hot day, maybe you gave it a bit more gas than normal at some point, or maybe the humidity is different, or you spent more time in traffic etc. Either way, the fans (or other pumps etc) can stay on for up to 30 minutes if needed after you lock the car and walk away.

    Since you have just clocked up 1000km, it is worth checking the oil and coolant levels when the car is COLD and on a level surface. Refer to the manual, but the oil should hopefully still be on "max" and the coolant level should be in the SHADED area between the "max" and "min" levels.

        and will check the oil and coolant levels in the morning....

          As she is a diesel, do the Tig's 'burn off' the soot in the particulate filter like my wife's 307 HDi? The 307 runs much warmer during this 'regeneration' period.....maybe the same for your Tiggy??

                yea...its normal...same as mine.
                i think that's pretty normal for most euro cars.

                But the tig kept the fan on longer than the TT few years back.
