Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Wow. Thank you to everyone's feedback. It really has helped me 'tick' the box and change my Sales Contract.... and hopefully speed up the process of procuring my Tiggy TDI 103 by optioning it with most of the high end options.

Agreed, the sunroof does bestow a level of prestige to the Tiggy. I'm still concerned about the heat emanating from the glass, but what's done is done and has been ordered as part of the factory install. All the feedback about the heat has been positive, but in the end, it's a very subjective and personal thing. I'll find out about soon enough.... even though it's a painful wait for the car!

    Thanks again!

Worst case, you can get the glass tinted quite cheaply.

Yeah, I may do so when I get my car tinted at Sol-ace. That's WHEN I get my car!

Now that you've had a few years to live with it, how do you like the roof Mister_E ?

Just wanted to add that I get hot and sweaty in anything over 20c. I have never been in a car of any shape or size in the middle of summer and said to myself, man thats cool in here. I got the black leather seats and the sunroof at the wife's request and I thought I better pack the portable shower too. And you know what it is hot, no doubt and so are most black leather seat cars without sunroofs.

Like most people said, a few min of the air-con and you don't even know it. Actually works better as you can just have the sunroof raised not open and the hot air will vent quicker.

The clincher for me is on a cold sunny beautifull winter's day where you have all the windows closed, a touch of heat from the air-con and the sunroof wide open with the sun beaming down...

Considering all options, I'd say its worth it. Make sure you use it at least a few times a week to keep mechanisms lubricated and rubbers compliant and dont forget to keep your rubbers clean up there (easy to forget) and check the channels for water clearing every now and then...

Here's a run down... 1st year of the car.. sun roof has been 'fantastic'. 2nd year and after 2nd service, the sunroof began to rattle... every bump, every corner, every time the car flexed, the sunroof would rattle like a baby's rattle toy.

I have been in and out of the stealership, and after 3 goes at fixing it, the sunroof rattle noise has settled down somewhat. it still rattles when the car flexes or hits a bump in the road. it's going into the dealership this week for another investigation to possible replace the frame. In addition to the warranty work, the quality and care taken by this stealership has been abysmal to say the least. Lubricant splattered all over the leather seats, repeat visits to get the rattle fixed and on the most recent visit, a slashed rubber seal to the rear tailgate was identified. Most likely incurred when the techs attempted to remove the interior ceiling of the car to investigate the rattling. I still don't know why the damn glass rattles... last tech said it's normal for cars with sun roof to rattle like this.
