  • Tiguan Floor Jack Points

    Hi All,

i was wondering whats the best method jacking up a Tiguan?

Ive had a quick look under the car and cannot see anything other than plastic at the front or rear to support a floor jack.

Also would the side rails be strong enough to support floor stands? The wax like coating around the side rails doesnt inspire alot of confidence...

I noticed there was a thread somewhere where someone jacked up a golf from the side rails, method described was jack up front tyre till the rear side lifts too, place jack stand in rear repeat for other side etc etc
surely there must be a better method.

    Thanks

Must say it's a bit of a pain jacking the car with the stock jack to swap 4 wheels over from time to time...

I've been contemplating a way of fabricating a simple top to a floor jack so that it would fit the regular jack points. Possibly just a small piece of timber with a groove in it, & an aluminium sleave to strenghten... Thought the auto shops would have something that suited, but no luck...

I frabricated an adaptor for the top of the floor jack by cutting a groove in small piece ( about 50mm) of 40mm RHS, then use the standard jack to lift the rear and floor jack under the front. Rotate the tyres on that side and repeat for the other side, you can glue some rubber on the RHS so it doesn't damage the paintwork if this is a concern. Having using this on serveral makes of car for nearly 20years and works fine.

oh i was more interested in a method of getting jack stands under to either lift the front or the back up.

But guess VW made it difficult for us DIY'ers

Seems like i'll have to resort to using jack stand at rear whilst jacking up the front method... would feel much safer if i could use jackstands as primary support and use jack as secondary support.
