you must be a sucker for punishment or have a real a love for dubs and DSG that you were hoping the first 2 were just one offs

good luck and wish you the best solving your DSG issues

Hmmm anybody else also have cruise control randomly turned on? My cruise control switch was on and set at 70km/h. Was holding my partners hand and the cruise control clicked in. Had to brake to cancel it because there was a sudden surge of acceleration and I also did see the green cruise control light turn on. Done 55,000 had it for 2 years. First time it's ever done this

Of course you are. Thaths why the forums like this one exist.
The fault that you're experiencing is common and I believe it will be solved. Keep us posted how you go at the dealers.

Of course I would be - but I don't know if I would have your tenacity in sticking with the same brand after all that bad "luck". However, I have an excellent relationship with my dealer and I am confident they would get it sorted for me. But I would also be speaking with VWA about my experiences, and I'd be doing just as you have and using this forum to tell everyone. Good luck, I do really hope you get it sorted.

I know VW have sold a lot of DSGs that haven't had problems... why do you think I tried my luck a 3rd time? Both my parents have had well behaved DSG cars. For me to get 3 out of 3 with problems, I'm not happy.

I'm not planning on filing a law suit or anything like that. And I've had the displeasure of driving a current model Rav4, Toyota certainly won't be selling one to me.

In my previous job I had the pleasure/displeasure of driving many different vehicles.
Holden Epicas with airbag faults and brake failure, Ford Falcons and Territorys that are delivered brand new with rust, Ford Focus' that have dodgy auto boxes, Corollas with oil leaks. Plenty of new cars have problems but I think I'm allowed to be a bit upset about getting 3 VWs which have all had gearbox problems + a mix of other different problems.
Are all 3 cases relating to 7-sp DSG or the 6-sp ones?

                  Honda, depends

Civics had a terrible run in models

Also known to be expensive to repair but owning a VW, that isn't anything new

Frankly, Hondas in general are boring.

The previous model Euro was a nice vehicle but their SUV vehicles are grey hair brigade territory

After my Jetta, and 4 VWS in fact,I am prefering my whole experience with Honda...no rattles and squeeks,or arrogant dealers.

The whole experience has been like a breath of fresh air...

Then there was a huge jolt and it took off again. Not fun being a sitting duck in the middle of a roundabout in an 80 zone...
The problem you have described with the DSG selecting neutral on a round about sounds almost identical to what a number of Golf Mk6 owners (most of them Golf R) in the following thread. Have a read of the 35 pages of grief.

                        Hi mtjoo7,

Mate, the Tiguan TDi does. The first time you see that in your rear view mirror, you go cold ....

A Subaru - well from my present experience anyway. 235,000km in this Forester and it has never had one single ref to warranty or problem. And it has been driven over some fairly awful outback and mountain roads. Even the components last remarkably well. Only service oils and filters, 3 sets of tyres and a battery replaced and just recently the first set of brake pads, which appeared to have quite a bit of life left in them. I don't see any VW's here that can even come close to that sort of record and as much as I love my Golf I just can't get myself to trust it like I do the Forester. A year ago I had planned to replace it one day with a Tiguan but after a year of reading this forum - no way. In about 18 months time it will be another Forester XT manual.

I loved my XT Forester but god, was it crap inside. Cheap and nasty.

The sportshift was ancient and clunky and unreliable.

                            Great engine though

I have the manual and love it. Don't mind the interior at all - there are lots cheaper and worse assembled than that around. Biggest negative is the road noise.

I agree. We have an XT Forester at home, its an 07 (last of the good shape) manual and goes like clappers but its horrible to drive for longer then 20mins, clutch is just awful so heavy with no feel. Brakes dont feel great either. The GTI handles much better too.

If anyone is interested PM me would love to tade it in for a tdi golf or tigi..
