  • coming/leaving home function.

Just a query if anyone uses it at all?? and what you did to activate it??
I activated mine via the mfd for the first time over the weekend and found that the leaving home function seemed to work - turned on the main beam headlights, rear lights etc. when i unlocked the car... but the coming home part did not seem to do anything different to when i had it deactivated.. when i turned off the car, exited and locked the car no external lighting came on...
Haven't had a chance to look at the manual as yet but thought it would be as simple as activating it on the mfd especially since the leaving home function seems to work fine.

Have found the wording to be fairly ambiguous on the MFD & usually have to try different selections to see what they actually do. Trial & Error!

you have to flip your highbeam as you leave the car, headlights then stay on for the time you set.

It's silly but that right. Flicking High beam is the only way to get this to work once you've ticked it on the MFD.

          thanks... will try this today.
and youre right... it sounds really silly that you have to do something else before leaving the car... i wonder why they have done it this way?

Or people got sick of hearing: "Sir/Miss, you forgot to turn off your headlights" in the car park. This way you can control when you want it to be working. I use it when I park at home in the driveway but not when I am in the car park at the shopping centre. So it is really a "coming home" function for me.

One other thing to note, is that the leaving home lights will only come on when the ambient outside lighting is dark enough to trigger the auto headlights.

you can change it in VCDS to the old programming which is... auto coming home (isntead of flicking the stalk)
but yes people do come and say "your lights are on"

Under the old programming, you just have to unlock/lock the car with the remote twice in order to turn off the auto coming home.

That beats flicking on the high beam to enable the coming home, which kinda reminds me of the classic scene from Mr Bean ... where he writes himself a birthday card and then acts surprised!
