Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 2011 Model 7 Speed DSG ...how much Torque can she technically handle ?

    Hi All,

Does anyone know of, or can anyone point me to a technical manual or article etc that clearly illustrates what the 2011 7 speed DSG currently in my Tig is rated at as far as power/torque handling etc ?

    Cheers

I don't think, they give out that information freely.
They have a reccomended limit in the manual i believe.

Not enough, but a lot more than the 7 speed dry clutch ones. There's heaps been talked about this before, with specs. Just can't remember where. do a quick search, should bring it up.

It's either in this forum or another where it's been mentioned that the Tigs have the higher torque DSG version!

Can't remember the actual figure, but sounded ridiculously and way more than 350NM.

By memory 550Nm for 7 speed and 350Nm for 6 speed.

that's the 7 speed wet clutch unit in the Tig, not to be confused with shonkey 7 speed dry clutch unit found in the smaller VW's that is giving grief all over the place and will probably set VW back 5 years in customer confidence and blow their target of being number 1 by 2013 (or when ever it is they've decided to be number 1) - silly boys releasing something that bad onto the market
