  • Recommended workshop for 15,00km service?

    Hi guys,

We have our 12 month service coming up, and I just want to check that it's OK to get the service done from a non dealer? I'm pretty sure it is, but don't wan't any warranty issues.

We bought it from Austral in Brisbane, but I have no intention of getting it serviced there! I'd like to take it to Mike Webber (Prestige and Performance) as he seems to have a good reputation on the forum, and he's just around the corner from us.

    Cheers

    Hi Sean,
I had mine done there a few weeks ago.
Service is factory warranted and cheaper.

Might be in your best interest to request additives though to save some $$

    From memory mine was $270

See here for the breakdown: http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f97/...tml#post673742

Also, good to see another local Tig owner.
I believe i see yours on the way to work (near the footy grounds)

Yep, that's probably me! I'll have to keep an eye out for yours driving past, not that many blue Tig's on the road.

      What additives did you request?
      Cheers

I didn't request any but they included Wynns formula in mine and i don't know if it is needed or not.

I normally only drive mine past on weekends, have the family car/daily for trips to and from work.

Still doesn't stop me from peaking out the window to see yours.

I can highly recommend Alba European, contact Jmac via a PM on here or 0423965341.

He can come to your place and do it on the spot. Great guy with awesome service. And prices very competitive as well.

Mine's coming up to 30,000km so will be getting him to do it again.

Thanks donweather, I've heard good things about Jmac on the forum. I've already booked in with Prestige and Performance, but maybe I'll give Jmac a go in the future.
            Cheers

I can't understand the value of putting Wynns product in any engine.

Wynns do a direct injection cleaner which is supposed to be good for our engines. I saw that you were asking in another thread what it was. See link to pdf:http://www.wynns.net/product_files/d...29%2023079.pdf This might be what your mechanic used??

That's from the Belgium site, so product doesn't have to be available in here. I will check it with the Wynn's in Adelaide tomorrow.

Thanks Transporter, I found it weird that I cant find the Wynns DIP3 product on the AUstralian website, yet the link (that has the pdf file that I posted) is from the Wynns Australian website wynns.net ---> (Wynn's Australia)

FYI Also found the product info sheet for the DIP3 from the wynn Australia site with a product number. PDF file has the wynns Aussie address on it, so it would definately be available in Aus. Try this link http://www.wynns.net/product_files/d...29%2022693.pdf

Had the Tig serviced yesterday, $270 as Team_V said. Much cheaper than any dealers I rang.

They put in the Wynns additive, but I forgot to ask them about it, so still not sure what its for?
                        Cheers

Outside servicing isnt an issue with your warranty. BUT where it all changes is when your car is out of warranty, and lets say your 6months out of warranty and your DSG kicks the bucket.

The person who has full service history with VW has a very good chance of a 'goodwill' claim where as the person with no VW history is virtually left with no chance at all.

There is where the benefit lies with dealer servicing.

As long as you can prove that the car was serviced to VW specification I don't think it makes any difference. It may delay the repair but it will get repaired.

Check the consumer affairs site for your rights to repairs after the warranty.
