Purchased a 147 around 10 months ago (my11) so last week it went in for its first service at around 15500 km...when we purchased the vehicle we had the tow pack fitted which is all well and good but the thing that drives me nuts is reversing...obviously the parking sensors continuously beep so after 30 sec of reversing up the driveway my ears are ringing and I have to get out of the car - surely this is not normal, anyway I told the service department and they told me that there is nothing that can be done within the computer so they are ordering a wire that disables the sensors when the harness is connected so my question is why would this have been done when we purchased the vehicle as surely other people have this issue as well?
I also complained about a rattling sound around 1500-2000rpm and of course sitting in D7 at 80k's it reverberates through the car (great for around town) and as it turns out some clips have to be replaced on the wastegate - presume this is the norm?
Also, for some reason my boot light had never worked since new (err great pre-delivery) so I complained about this and it turns out that there was a wiring fault but I now have a boot light - probably the tech forgot to connect something after fitting the towbar
Question about the DSG - when the car is cold and you reverse out of the driveway you then select drive, it appears to be in angel gear for a few seconds then the gearbox grabs - is this normal? - I did ask the service adviser and he said this is normal but I get the impression that everything I asked his standard response was "that's normal" and all checked out ok. My concern is after the car runs out of warranty I will not be a happy person if the DSG expires as I can imagine it ain't going to be cheap fix. I must admit after driving the can for around 10 months I feel at times that the DSG has a mind of it's own especially if you need to accelerate quickly and whilst the car is very comfortable to drive I still prefer a manual as I have more control over it, I sometimes use sports mode but it's really clunky when stopping/starting so tend to leave it in drive mode - guess that's the way the gearbox is so not sure if I'd purchase another even though the other half likes it - down to a personal choice I guess.
My first service cost $370 which from what I can tell is just an oil and filter change, reset of the service indicator, a wash and a vacuum and out the door - good money for not much work
