  • Dark dark blue metallic paint? Tig in SA

I saw a fantastic Tig in SA today (North-Eastern suburbs) but it was a very dark metallic blue. It's not a standard colour for the car. Does anyone know anything about getting a specific-paint colour? Would it be after-market, or factory-direct?

Are you sure it's not midnight blue? They changed the blue from a light to a dark blue around 2010 I believe.

If this is the case, I'm in!

So far all the blue Tiguans I've seen (pictures and in person) have been a light-blue. Even their brochure has the light blue colour only.

There were 3 blue colours available in the Gen 1 Tiguan.

It started with Catalina blue which was a light blue metallic.
Then they replaced it with Biscay Blue Pearl (which i have)
Then in the final year they replaced it with Night Blue which is very dark.

I believe this was done as no other VW in the range offered Biscay Blue or Catalina blue as a colour scheme.

Ah, that'll explain it! Must get the night blue. My black one is coming in (hopefully this week), but I get the feeling my wife will want to upgrade her car to a Tig as soon as she drives it. So it'll be a night-blue one for me! Many thanks!

            Hi Dean
I'm the happy owner of a Midnight Blue Tig. 3 weeks old now and going great. It lives with my partners TDI Golf. Hard to decide which car to take when we go out. The blue is a great colour but like all dark cars needs a regular wash to stay looking good.
Hope your Tig arrives soon. It will be worth the wait.

Hi Wheels684, I hope it arrives soon too! I fear my wife will like it so much she'll want it for herself... Bt I see it as a bonus because it'll give me an excuse to buy the midnight blue one. Lol!
