looks like i'm another one of those frustrated with the hunt of a good aftermarket system for the Tig, anyways has anyone got one of these?

AVIC-F9310BT Multi-sensor GPS, Entertainment & Communication System exclusively for Volkswagen, Seat and Skoda cars - Pioneer Navigation - GPS

Honestly i'm trying to steer away from the typical factory look, and would very much prefer the look of an Alpine W900 or eclipse AVN units. But given the response i'm getting from audio installers doesn't inspire much confidence especially when you end up forking out upwards to 1k on adaptors inc can bus, SWI, etc and still not get full functionality of a stock HU

Definately would like ability to hook up some decent components speakers/amps/subs

I installed an AS-7609 a few weeks ago in my Octavia. 8" touchscreen, looks great. Full CANBUS functionality. Great bluetooth. Fantastic IGO8.1 GPS. Maps are a bit old but were free...(they are about 2 years out of date).

TV, radio (reception good, has an antenna booster), DVD, SD card slot, ipod cable, lineouts for everything, USB, blah blah blah.

        Cost me $500 on Aliexpress.

I originally connected the CANBUS decoder wrongly and damaged it, surpisingly the aftersales service was great and they sent me a new one for $30 plus postage within 5 days.

I'm VERY happy with it. The screen is really good - easy to read and works great. I know the older chinese units have a pretty average rep (and with good reason) but the new 7609 is great value from my experience.

            Hey gldgti, tell me more......

            1) compared to the RNS510 screen, how does it fair in sunlight?
            2) Is it fully compatible with the screen MFD in the dash (both white and the older red)?
            3) do all steering wheel functions work including phone, mute?

            Cheers.

I have both the Zenec NC-2010 (Amarok) and the RNS510 (Tiguan)

I would go with the RNS510 in the Tiguan because its cheaper on ebay & the screen does perform better in the sun.
However I would only do this if the Tiggy already has OEM VW Blue Tooth which will come standard with the new tigs.

If you have money to burn the Zenec has a much more instinctive interface and many more features like Divx, BT
etc. It also works with the MFD Data. I find satnav alot better on the Zenec however it has bugs in the current Satnav firmware.

              Zenec NC-2010 OZ Price $2k
              Zenec NC-2010 UK around $1300
              RNS510 here $2500
              RNS510 Lithunia Special $800-$1400.

I'm sorry I have to ask, why don't you get the RNS510? (just curious, that's all).

I have heard that it is very slow in the navigation department, and a nightmare to use when you're looking for a particular song. Also, it doesn't come with Bluetooth built into the unit.

I sort of agree with your comments chylld.

We have the RNS510 in the Tiguan, and it is a little laggy compared to the RCD-510 in the R. It also takes a bit longer to "boot up" (I imagine because it looks for satellites). So there's just those few extra moments before music starts playing and/or you're able to work the MDI.

Plus - the maps on it are ANCIENT.

If u have the RCD510, I would just leave it as is and get standalone Sat Nav unit.

Whatever you do, avoid china units. More headache than the savings from eBay rns510.

ive been hunting around for the pioneer unit.

Seems like its a uk only thing at the moment.

It seems like at the moment its quite a hassle to get aftermarket stuff, i might put the stereo on hold for abit till some more tech becomes avail and start getting APR gear
