2 times in the last couple of weeks where the left Parker lights and the left behind lights stayed on after turning off the car and locking it with remote. Anyone experienced this problem? Turning on and off the car fixed the problem. Turning the lights off auto did not fix the problem. Anyone experienced this? Car was serviced a couple of weeks ago without issues.

Sounds like the Europe thing where when you park on an unlit load you must have the off-side parking lamps lit. This is done by leaving the turn indicator on left to light up just the left parking lights, and right to light up just the right parking lamps.Originally posted by hippyhippy View Post2 times in the last couple of weeks where the left Parker lights and the left behind lights stayed on after turning off the car. It just means that you need to make sure that the turn signal indicator is in the middle

Yep - what wai said! At least in my previous 9N3 Polo GTI and my current MK6 Golf R, the car will also be beeping at you after you remove the key from the ignition when you've got one of the indicators on. This is to remind you that one side of the parking lights will stay on.
The modern VW's are smart enough to turn it off eventually so the car will still start.
But still... don't leave the indicators on when you turn off the car! lol

Parking light feature. Assuming you have parallel parked and had your indicator on as you got out of the car. Turn your indicator stick off and the lights will not be on'03 BMP MkIV Golf GTI | Oettinger tune | K04 | 18" OZ

LOL 3 replies in a min, must have all be typing at same time hahah
It doesn't leave any of the dashboard lights turned on like you would have if your turned your parkers on via the headlight switch. So no, it's designed to do that. Won't drain the battery, well not unless you leave it for like a month....it's only 2 low-voltage globesOriginally posted by hippyhippy View PostI think that might be it. But if this stays on. Won't it drain the battery?
edit; as Corey said, it might turn off automatically anyway... the interior lights turn off after about an hour if you leave a door open. Read the manual, you might find some other surprises if you've only just got the car

Is there a sound, when you remove the key from the ignition? (wife drives the Tig 99% of the time, so I didn't check, but my T5 let me know with the buzzing sound that I left the parker on)Originally posted by hippyhippy View PostI think that might be it. This is a very useful feature in certain circumstances. Like when parked on a dark narrow road.
1. Flick the indicator stalk up or down before turning off the ignition.
2. Turns on just the parking light on the side the indicator stalk indicates.
3. Sounds a brief beep just as you turn off the ignition and before you open the door. (If you are quick you might not notice)
I have used this on a number of occasions. Very useful and doesn't seem to have any impact on starting after several hours.
