Hi guys.
Does anyone know if we got the folding front passenger seat in Aus?

Had to pick up some timber and it would have been handy to have the seat down, managed it anyway but thought i would check to see if we had the option like the US does (as below)

Yes, but only with the leather seats I seem to remember...for some reason

I bought my Tig after being told and shown that the front seats did this. However, when I got mine home, it didn't. From memory, the demo that I was being shown did have leather seats (it was a TDI). I was a bit PO'ed that mine didn't fold like this.

Yep ... I can confirm that mine (leather) does fold!

Have only used it once so far, when transporting the side steps.

Ahhh bugger it.
Why they don't make it possible for cloth seats defies me.

I would be more likely to transport stuff on my cloth seats than risk the damage to a 4k set of leather seats.

Me too. What's the difference between the cloth and leather? Is it the draw on the 147?

The leather costs 4k more and comes with folding seatback trays on the front seats.
It also includes the drawers fropm memory and electrical seat adjustment?

Correct, they're totally different seats and "one" of their features is the fold flat passenger seat.

Yep, mine fold as requested. Black leather...

However, to all those who do not have the leather seats...dont feel as if you somehow missed out on anything!. If I had my time again, I would NOT get the leather seats....

Too hot, especially with the panoramic sunroof.

I would rather the cloth anyway. It is a good quality of cloth, and comes up well with a good vac regularly.

I also find that I sit more comfortably IN cloth seats, rather that ON leather seats. Know what I mean?

This will probably upset some who love the leather seats, so sorry in advance....

The best feature about the leather is the heated seats!

However they are a nuisance to care for, especially with kids that have no regard for them sitting in the back!

Yes, you are right aussietig, the heated seats are what tipped my wife to push for these...have come in handy on very cold days / nights in the NSW southern Highlands winter!

Suprises me though that the cloth seats could not have the heated feature as an option too?

Heated seat is awesome. The leather that VW put on the Tig is easily marked and also attract dirt quite readily, not sure which boffin decided to put this leather in a car environment, having said that I still picked the leather .

I would think the cloth seat will dissipate the heat quite efficiently, it'll be pointless having a heater there.

Cloth seats for me,nothing worse than seeing nice leather seats spoilt by ingrained red dust.Almost impossible to remove when stained.
It's almost a certainty if you eventually do the lap around Aus.

From what I've read, the fold down seat also comes in the cloth trim with the sports seats in the 147.
