  • VW Driving Experience Days

    Hi all,
Anyone else doing the VW driving experience days as just released?

I got an email on thursday about it. Paid for my spot straight away...got $110 discount.

They are being held at race tracks and courses around Australia. All sorts of New VW to drive, and education on handling etc in all conditions...

Would love to know who else from our forum is going, and on which day etc....

    Cheers

Hi Tigger, yeah i got that email the other day too. Reckon i'll put myself down for the driving progression one, getting to drive a few new models around a track sounds pretty good!

I got the email 3 weeks after it was released to the public, poor quality PR there.

Nopt going even with the discount.
They had the tig there last year but you got a 1 minute slalom with it and that was it.
10 minutes on a track with a gti/gtd and it was the corporate track so it was too short to get over 100km/h.

Would only do it if it were free or if it was a proper driver training course, not an advertising/pr event like last year.

Let us know how it goes though.

Yep, I hope it is not just a glorified advertising day.... That will really annoy me.
I kind of figure that as existing customers, they do not need to flog stuff to us, but allow us to experience our brand of car in a proper track setting.
Hope it is better than you have mentioned team_v.... will let you know.

Oh and the email I received said stuff like...blah blah loyal customer etc...special $110 off the standard price etc....

Welll, I am happy to pay $165 for that...at least the hot lap will be fun...I hope.
And when do you get to really thrash a GTI during a normal dealer test drive?

I did it last year when it was free and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Received an email last week acknowledging my attendance and asking if i want to go again. I'm in 2 minds whether to go as i don't really think it is worth the amount they are asking as there was very little tuition involved, plus here in WA it's not even on what i would call a proper racetrack.

I went to this yesterday. Did the Advanced Driving Course utilizing the $100 discount.
I must say, it was worth it. Learned a few things about the car's capabilities that I never would've thought to test myself.

The highlight of it all was doing 4 laps around Eastern Creek... 2 in the GTi, 2 in the R.
Definitely worth it and highly recommended.

Yep it was really great...(I have posted comments also in the Meets section NSW)

It was not just a glorified advertising day at all. It was very informative, and the instructors were all great guys! very fun, and very good instruction, all tied up in one.

The laps around the tracks were great too! I got to do two lots of three laps in two different GTI's. One had the sport setting ACC i think, and it really made a difference. Comparing the two back to back was great.

Although it was really wet, it was a great day. Goood bunch of people hosting it, and a good bunch or participants too.
