  • Tiguan Cargo Barrier

    Hi All,

When we first bought our Tiguan, we had a bit of difficulty finding a cargo barrier, with none of the manufacturers supplying them. I thought I'd let anyone interested know (now that I've joined this forum) that we had one custom made by Ausguard in Sydney.

After an initial assessment to the ability to properly fit one, they had the vehicle for a couple of days whilst they had an engineer design one and then make it. It is fully compliant with curtain airbags etc although it has not been "validated" as they said the cost would require them to have a fair few orders before making that worth the cost. It is however built to a standard they assure me it would pass testing.

Should anyone want one now, they have the design to press one quickly, so if you've been looking for a barrier and had no luck, this is an option. We've had it for over a year and it's been great, helps you make the most of the smaller cargo area of the Tig.

    Cheers!

do you know what it would cost to get another one made?
And would you be able to post more detailed pics of the fixing points? how are the fixing points attached to the car? do they use the existing set up that the OEM cargo barrier would use?
Is it easily removable? do the mounting brackets remain when its removed?
I am after one but would only use it when we went on holidays so want to be able to remove it, also dont want huge brackets left behind when it is not in use.
