Hi all,

Is anyone here know where to find car electrical pro that familiar with tig fog light retrofitting in Victoria?
I have been searching around but couldn't get one as yet.

Thanks for the information.. I have read the article before and you have done a good job with the setup.
I am trying achieve next step up by using central controller, new headlight switch and so on.....
I have seen an article for VW CC before but I am afraid the wiring to the controller can be completely different with Tig...
Has anyone done this before? or do you know any technician in Vic would know how to this?

Aussie tig have you used these guys on other parts, how's the freight been from the US supplier - reasonable? Think the fogs were a $300 option?, so works out more than orig, but maybe not much more if install self.

Noed - Have often thought fogs would be a nice addition. I'll be watching this thread with interest

Firstly it may well have been a $300 option, but not after market unfortunately!

VAGLINK is based in HK. Usually their prices includes free shipping! But it appears not on these fogs.
Nevertheless, shipping from HK makes it economical for us (especially since their postage costs are ridiculously cheap).

I have bought many bits and pieces from them. From experience, all their parts are genuine VW or at least OEM, but made in China for VAGs built and sold in that market.


So just need to watch out and quiz them a bit more regarding fitment or part numbers, when it comes to certain parts.

For instance and just as a heads up, Chinese Tigs have a longer wheel base than Rest of World.
Learnt the hard way, when I purchased the Tiguan R door mouldings (with aluminium strip) that don't fit.
However they did give me a full refund via PayPal.

So equally, I would suggest double checking the part numbers on their fogs, particularly since NZTiguan has mentioned (in the other forum) two versions based on the angle of approach. We definitely need 18 degrees here.

I also bought the door trim, but i was informed prior purchase that the back door trim is longer due to chi-tig version. But I insist with the purchase and I am ready with cut and trim the sill. I haven't started as yet but soon enough when I got proper trimming tool.

Anyway, an update regarding the foglights. I try my luck by contacting different VW dealer around my area and they confirm that they are able to retrofit the foglights for 500-600 mark. All genuine part from VW with oem switch replacement as well. It will be same as factory fitted.
would anyone consider this expensive?

expensive compared to orig option cost, maybe you can have a go at bargaining with them to get somewhere near the factory option price. Of course it was $300 when we were looking at Tigs (almost 2 years ago) so you may want to check current option price to be fair. There are legimately higher costs for installing post factory versus in factory, but as a Volkswagen customer I dont think it is unreasonable to put some pressure on re matching the factory fit price (which they probably wont, but may come closer). @ $400 be starting to look pretty good, at $600 thats double the factory, think even they could accept that doesn't compare at all well. Could also argue VW should wear some of the 'responsibility', as many tig buyers have compromised on exactly what they wanted at ordering because of extended delays in delivery. I know if we could have got what we wanted in a reasonable time frame, we would have waited, but compromised a bit to get the car in a decent time frame. No complaints, but we would have gone with fogs if it had been easier to get

Well good luck mate! Cause the plastic lugs on the back are in the wrong spot and I imagine the aluminium strip would be hard to shorten and still look pristine.

But keep me posted on how it goes and looks!

The only reason I ordered fogs with my Tiguan was to fill the hole in the front bumper. In the last 2 years I have only turned them on twice for fun. Auto headlight do not work with fogs turned on. How about buy the fogs and install but don't connect them.

Well I'm determined to get my money's worth with them!

They're serving as DRL and cornering lights at the moment on my Tig (after some VCDS tweaking).

Even changed the 9006 globes to PIAA 7500K also ... so that they less resemble fogs when turned on.

Side trim

I have finished the trim cut. Due to limited cutting tool and proper holder, I accidentally scratched the trim (few lines near the cut).
If you decided to do it please do not forget to apply masking tape prior cutting it.
Overall it does change appearance of the tiguan.. it looks better with the trim.
I would like to upload the picture into this thread but I am only allowed to select link.

Regarding the fog light, I have decided not to install it. I think I can invest the money for something else more important.

sorry mate, you should use the pic button instead of the hyperlink button. The very next button on the right. Like this:




So you've just actually ripped the aluminium trim off the VAGLINK one and stuck it on the original/existing door moulding on your Tig?

Only cut off a bit of the rear passenger ones?

Or did you also need to trim the front ones also?
