  • Tiguan acceleration rattle

I have noticed an annoying rattle lower in the rev range when accelerating. I believe it could be the same problem that exists in the mk6 GTI's.

Has anyone else come across this and had it checked by a dealer to confirm it is the wastegate actuator rod like with the GTI?

Yeah it is the same issue...

I've seen several people post about it here (though, I'm not sure what threads, as I don't read the entire Tig forum). There are also numerous people on the international forums with Tiguans having the same issue.

Corey, it's just that to me it seems to be getting more prominent, maybe it's just that now i am aware of it i am always listening for it. I guess i was hoping it could of been a 'fixable' issue. So glad the R's aren't effected by it.

Yup my Tig has the rattle too, The dealer I get my car serviced at was keen to try and fix it and replaced the flexpipe/cat assembly but that didn't resolve the problem. He showed me the letter that VW Australia sent out saying that the believe the rattle is from the rod in the diverter valve and that it is not causing any damage and that in big bold text says DO NOT REPLACE THIS PART as they will not cover it under warranty.
