Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • See me home feature

First off I would like to thank everyone for a terrific site. As a new deisel driver the threads on maintenance and fuel were invaluable. I have recently purchased the standard 2008 103 TDI auto without comfort pack but it does have the see me home feature. Since owning the car, I have twice flattened the battery with the resulting air bag error. The headlights turn off in the allotted time, however the parking lights stay on.
Two dealers have told me that since I do not have the comfort pack I have to turn the lights off manually (still under warrenty) Is this some strange quirk of VW which turns off main lights automatically but leaves parking lights on? Perhaps I just have gullable written agross my forehead.

Seems strange. I didn't think the auto headlights with the see me home, leaving "work" function was part of the 'comfort pack', I thought it was a standard feature on them all. I've only used the leaving work one though!
