  • Tyre Pressure Monitor

    Hi all,
Does any have the Tyre Pressure Monitor in their Tig?
Just wanting to know how it works - are they just valve caps with the green /red indicator in them or is it a more complex system that is somehow monitored via the MDF??

You should consult your owners manual to get the full information.

However, if the Tiguan uses the same system as the Golf (which I suspect it does), then the TPMS uses the ABS brake sensors to measure wheel rotation. When tyres are correctly inflated, they'll rotate a certain number of times per km. For example, the circumference of a 225/40R18 tyre is 2001.2 mm, meaning it revolves 499.7 times per km. If that number of revolutions drops for a wheel, the system will detect that and a warning light will come up on your instrument cluster and a tone will sound.

If you swap your tyres (from one axle to another), replace the tyres, or even change the pressures in your tyres, then you'll need to press and hold the TPMS button until the tone sounds. That button is usually on the centre console near the gear shifter, or in the glove box.

        Thanks Corey for the info.
I am awaiting my Tig - so I wont have access to a manual just yet.
I had ordered some valve caps and was concerned if they would be compatable.
But now I know they are! thanks

Corey is spot on tigsti. Tig has the same set up, so valve caps won't be a problem
