Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Forget the new Tig - here's my pick!

Someone at work arrived today in one of these - WOW! What an SUV. I've never even heard of them before, let alone seen one (evidently only 3 have been sold on coast - have NO idea why). Toyota's going to put the cat amongst the pigeons with this little beauty!

The review is awesome too, here's just a small excerpt:

"Built to the same proportions of a miniature HUMMER, Toyota’s all new Rukus is a big car in a small car’s body. Everything from the engine to the interior room leaves passengers reeling....

A tuned exhaust note also helps the Rukus feel sporty and youthful.

Cornering isn’t the Rukus’ strong suit, with substantial body roll mid-corner, but it’s sporty enough to keep most happy. (nothing that a new set of hangers can't fix)

The smoothness offered in the Camry is lost in the Rukus due to its slow and often unintelligent four-speed automatic gearbox (can't have everything)

Buyers can accessorise their Rukus with body decals such as stripes and flames.."

WOW stripes and flames! Why can't VW come up with somtething this stylish and FUN - and all for under $40k?!

    Are you sarcastic or genuine?
That's the one ugly car and even uglier when you see it on the road, believe me.

Perhaps clip should have used sarcastica font?!

Anyway, I'm getting one, especially with that bit about the gearbox being worse than a Camry's. Here I thought they could only get better... I am going to put a stripe and a flame on it as well. And some 30" chromies.

And that is one of Toyota's greatest strengths. One can simply add decals as a cost effective way to instantly add horsepower.

If all you want is a nippy engine and lots of room this will be the perfect car.
The boxy shape allows for a lot of storage and it sit's pretty low to the ground so your kiddies can get in easily.

Still, it looks a bit whack and i smoked one at the lights (not sure if he was trying or not) so i'll stick with teh Blue Beast

It just runs the standard 2.4 Camry/Rav4 4cyl at 123kW (224Nm at 4000rpm) mated to a dodgy auto (no manual available), I don't think you'd have any probs smoking one off the line Teamv. A stock 125 would smoke it too, manual or DSG.

be good off the line, but it doesn't go around corners.
