  • Where to go for first service (Tiguan, 15K)

    Hi,
I would appreciate if someone can direct me to authorised places in Brisbane/Ipswich where they do the first service (Tiguan, petrol). It is for the first 15,000k and I was qouted by two VW dealerships something around $340-380. It seems quite high.

Another question, would I breach any conditions of warranty (sorry I have read the conditions yet) if I get this done via other authorised workshops. I am looking for cheaper and reliable options.

    Thanks-888fan

You will have no problems with warranty if you get the car serviced at a licenced mechanic (make sure they stamp your book). It's now against the law for dealers to void your warranty just for having your car serviced at a non-dealer workshop.

I would recommend going to a VW specialist if possible, not sure who's around in your area though.

I've had past experience with other manufacturers and if you get it serviced elsewhere, the spirit of cooperation disappears when you try for a warranty claim. The other issue is that if your mechanic doesn't use the VW spec oils/brake fluid/coolant/auto trans fluid or the genuine filters then they have good grounds for knocking back a claim. I do my own servicing, keep all oil/filter receipts just in case and hope like hell I don't need a warranty claim.
        Cheers
        phil
