  • Question & Comment

I asked my dealer the below question and got a smarty answer of it's a business card holder. I wasn't too impressed so I thought I better ask a group who will undoubtably know.

What is the vent (lacking a better word to describe it) with two horizontal openings to the left of the hazard light button?

In relation to my comment, I was surprised to open the Tig's bonnet and have a manual bonnet holder (again apologies I don't know the correct name of this device) and not an automatic one. My 2002 polo has this, and it surprises me to see VW to be cutting costs on this.

Yes ... it's a cardholder! Mine are on the right now cause I've arms like a T-rex!

Yes ... no gas lift for the bonnet. Another prehistoric artefact to trigger some flashbacks of your high school days.

... but don't use it as a credit card holder because the end pointing out tends to warp with the sun hitting it. Use the bottom one near your gear shifter.

Also, don't put money in there.
Some of the guys on vortex have been told it is a coin holder and apparently it is quite difficult to get coins out of those gaps

A gas lifted hood would have been nice but it isn't essential and also means you don't have to replace the gas struts

I use mine for those pieces of magnitised cardboard that are dispensed from the machines on the way in to parking centres. That way I don't look like a knob driving through the carpark with a flappy bit of card hanging from my face.

Well there you go. Another very useful piece of VW engineering.
