I am investigating fitting electric brake controller to my Tig (Tekonsha Prodigy)
Discovered some had reported anomalies in electrics.

Iafter throughly testing the Dealer installed ( official ) electrics I can report that VW have fluffed the conversion cable from the euro 13 plug to the 7 pin flat

pIN 2 on the euro (rear fog lamp) is wired to pin 5 on the 7 pin which should be either SErvice brakes or permant 12V ,

THe permanent 12V on pin 9 of the euro socket is fully implemented (tested with multimeter

I would like to fit the tekonsha prodigy rf unit but it not ADR approved for Aus as far as i can find out.

net best appears to be the P3

wonder if VW Aus would consider do a recall on the "defective" adapter cables as
they don't comply to standards. Therefore may be illegal

that is interesting as I have a Prodigy brake controller (90185) on my Tig to tow the camper. The controller was fitted by an auto electrician through the caravan dealer. The only issue I get is that the park lights down the side of the camper are always on even when the lights are turned off.

I had the Tig looked at recently for another fault and the dealer said that the fault was with the brake controller and that the caravan dealer should be able to sort it out. I haven't been in a hurry to sort this out yet, but looking at your post sounds like my problem is in the conversion from the 13pin to 7pin flat.

Did they install the brake controller "power"with a separate CONNECTOR or via the 7pin ?

        EDIT-
A look at the Euro Standards show that adapter is wired according to the 7pin ROUND socket -12N std pin numbering tranferred directly to the 7pin aus flat. (which is correct for the 7 pin round AUS std). but the euro 7pin is a different plug,. ( has some reversed sex pins as far as i can tell. VW aus have been lazy and just used the UK adapter in Australia. instead of building the correct one .
