  • Should I get the front windows Tinted? What about the sunroof?

    Hi all,

I'm about to take delivery of a new 147TSI Tig in Pepper Grey with the Sunroof option. Buying it from Chatswood Classic Cars.

As per the standard up-sell post-deal, they tried to sell me tinting for the front windows (as the back are already tinted.).

Just wondering what your thoughts are, and also, what does the Tig actually come with? (ie. Do the front, rear windows and sunroof cut any UV out of the factory or is this something I should ensure gets done?)

Also - is there any advantage in getting the dealer to do it, or should I go elsewhere after I take delivery?

    Your thoughts and experience appreciated.

    Adam

without doubt, tint the fronts, just have it done later...much cheaper and better. Can't comment on the sunroof, as i don't have one, if it looked ok, there's no doubt the tint would help with the uv factor.

I wanted mine done, told the dealer that I had already organised that myself, they asked for details - price, quality etc, and then bettered it by $15 - which was alot less than what they originally quoted me! But I did go with them just so it was all done on delivery and saved me the hassel (great job, no problems and has lifetime guarantee )

i was quite surprised to find the windows of our MY11 147 tinted, not having actually seen the car before we bought it...
the GTi in the photo has the 'darkest legal tint' aftermarket fitted and you can clearly see the Tig is not as heavily tinted.
i booked the Tig in to have Venture film and tinting done and wasnt convinced they could match front to back and have found the factory tint on the Tig to be ample.
        we dont have a sunroof.

Tint on the sunroof is really dark and does the job IMO.

The best tint you can get for the rear side windows actually comes in the form of "sunblinds". Dealer accessory!
Rate these highly and keeps the mozzies out when rear windows are down!

If only they made ones for the front and you never have any need to poke your arm out.
