Tiguan and Skoda Yeti...Top Gear

Hey I have heard that the skoda yeti is essentially the Tiguan...is this correct?

Watched it, yeti is based on Tiguan, quick google search will give you some result. The helicopter stunt is dead giveaway. Tiguan scored very well in term of roof strength. I believe the engine offering differentiate the tig and yeti, could be wrong though.

Yeti is actually a combination of Polo and Golf componentry ala Roomster.

I believe they are planning a 2011 release here.
Whilst it is a good package, the 2.0T engine and the looks won me over with the Tiguan.


And i can definitely believe the roof holding up a helicopter.

At least that long Derek, they had one in the dealer in Christchurch when i was there last feb. We get stuff all here compared to NZ, you seem to get every model known to man.

Weird isn't it ?? After all our market must be so much smaller than yours ? Perhaps it's cheaper to "homologate" (or whatever they do) here and so they trial the down-under market here to see if it's worth going into Ausi ?

By the way, had "thought" about getting a Yeti to replace the Tig (cos I'm not convinced yet that the DSG is a good thing for my particular usage (particularly off road)) BUT the Yeti may be "good" BUT it surely isn't good LOOKING !!!

Yes, I mention that to the dealer that the Yeti is quite ugly at least from the front and she said it actually looked nice at motorshow. Certainly brochure looked good.

Believe me mate, I've seen them and they're ugly .................... well not exactly ugly ................. but at least odd .................... nah, in fact they ARE ugly !!!

Sorry but NOTHING is close to as ugly as a Kia Soul.

I though something was wrong with my Tig last weekend cos I couldn't get it into a car-park at the supermarket (the auto hold kept jamming on !!!), then I realised there was a "Soul" in the next car-park and my Tig was just refusing to even be SEEN with it !!!
