  • fuel cap design.

I think the cap design in the tiguan (dont know if VW has adopted the same design throughout its whole range) has to be the best i have seen in a car so far.
The 1/4 turn to close or open the cap and the locating pin that allows the cap to sit in the fuel door whilst filling up are brilliant ideas.

That's all and well, but I would prefer if you could actually lock it.

      Lock what?

The lid will not open if the car is locked.

The fuel filler door locks with the rest of the car. Don't make my mistake of locking the car whilst refuelling, as then you can't close the fuel filler door.
The best cap I had was untethered, so you could jam it in the trigger of the filler nozzle and then clean the windows whilst the car filled

would be even better if the filler "neck" in the TDI's was larger so you can fill at the High Flow Diesel pumps! more important than the cap itself IMO.

yes the lid locks when you lock the car, its tied to the central locking. so when you fill up you leave it unlocked till you close the filler door.
