  • RNS510 Sat Nav not recognising steering controls

    Hi guys,
my 125TSI has had a couple of hiccups recently with the RNS510 Sat Nav ...when the car was turned off, radio stayed on and would not turn off. After a couple of tries, it turned off.

A couple of weeks later it happened again. Also, the only steering wheel control that worked was the volume. On the touch screen I couldn't change stations or select Nav or change radio stations.
Went to dealer while it was happening and they fixed it by doing "a hard drive reset that was done through our laptop which allows us direct access to the audio unit". They don't know what caused it and asked me to keep an eye on it.

Anyone else with RNS510 experienced this or have any ideas? ....Letig

Sounds like the car wasn't coded properly for the RNS510.
When i installed mine the volume controlls worked but not the selection buttons.
I had to get the car re-coded to recognise the RNS system by the guys at Harding Performance.

Never had the stereo not turn off with the car though.

I had a very similar problem with our one in the Tiguan. The only way was to disconnect the battery for a few secs then after that would be ok for a few months. Dealer said it was a firmware update but just before upgrading they checked the error code and now they have ordered a new one from Singapore.

        thanks Jasspa,
what is it they've ordered? Is it a replacement RNS510? If you can tell me what they said they found I could use it when/if it happens again. Thinking I should just push for a replacement now...?
