  • current model Tiguan - rear window shades

Hi all, recently took a delivery of MY11, very happy with the car.

I have tint all around but find that sun still gets to kids eyes in the baby seat (rear facing mount) and so i was wondering if anybody on the forum here had gone about getting them rear window shades.

    - OEM or
    - aftermarket option (dark mesh shade over window)

user feedback would be most welcome.. at the loss which way to go. Thank you.

Maybe have a look on ecstuning/ebay to see if they have anything
Most likely will be a lot chepaer than dealer stock.

Hope you can find a solution.

We have the OEM rear sunshades and are loving them. they fit and look so well. You can still open the windows to let air in and from the outside it looks like the rear windows have darker tint. ( the mesh fits perfectly inside the car on the window frame)

They are much better than the common window sox you see on the road.

Sorry don't know that price as we got it from the dealer with the other list of options. perhaps call the parts department of a VW dealer and ask. They are held in place by a couple of clips that are stuck to the window fram by some double sided tape, you can remove the shades, fold and store in a bag provided and small enough to fit in the glove box when not in use. We have never taken them out though so info is from the dealer's explanation on delivery.

I have a feeling that they are cheap as they included the sunblinds at the bottom of the invoice with no price attached. you should have ask the dealer to throw it in since you have bought a long list of options..

We have one of after market throw over mesh things. Paid $15 for two of them from Target. They work great and I think they look fine. For what they are and how long you need them I don't think you need to pay any more.

It actually fits great on the Tiguan as it is a very square door. Doesn't fit so well on my Vectra but I have just used a couple of bobby pins on the inside to take up the slack. Can still use the windows on both cars if I desired.

              Cheers
              Dave

I'd prefer the OEM jobbies too. I'm one of those people that prefer a more integrated look, and they certainly look like they're meant to be there. They're an absolute joy to fit, too

i did go OEM afterall. nothing fits best. *avoid sox mesh over rear door - get what you pay for.

local VW spare parts shop stock it. part # vw-5N0064363 called sun blind. sold in a pair.

AUD RRP $199 paid trade $149

happy with the result. fits internally, has 5 channel clips to hold it in place (no contact with the glass) so one could lower the window - no restrictions.

i'm thinking of buying this shade to block out the sun as well. Can someone post a picture to see how it fits. Thanks.

Where in sydney can I buy the sades at the cheapest price? $150 for the pair of shades sounds reasonable.
Has anyone bought the back shades (the one goes on the boot window) as well?

                            Just ring around!

However, I wouldn't bother with the boot window (if yours is already tinted).
Unless dog in boot is copping sun in face, otherwise see no point to having one.

We got the side and rear blinds when we ordered our Tig. I think they are quite well designed and fit the windows well.
Had those sox things on my jetta but they just dont last long, i got about 12 months from them before they started to rip etc...
Spewin they dont make the blinds for the jetta.

Think the rear blind was about the same price as the sides.
