  • My11 Tiguan vs MY10 differences

Is anybody our there able to summarise the differences between the two model years for me?(I am talking mostly about the 125TSI), apart from the 4Motion badges, what are the differences to look for, and how can you actually tell from the compliance plate etc which one you are looking at?
    Thanks
    Andrew

This, and as the OP pointed out it also has the 4Motion badge.
They also replaced biscay blue for night blue, and replaced mountain grey with pepper grey.

Massive gains in economy due to the new gearbox. combined rate of 8.8litres per 100km's in the 125TSI DSG and now 6.6 for the 103TDI DSG. They use to be 10.5 for the 125 and 7.9 for the 103 Autos.

Andrew, this is what my dealer gave me on this:

I have also noticed a different exhaust (?) or maybe its just me. My exhaust tips are like a solid stainless design rather than having a thin chrome cover over the tips if that makes sense.

            Whats SAFE locking?

Is it still a 6 month wait for a Tig?

I was told there was quite a wait at 3 different Melbourne dealerships, so just out of curiosity, i thought i would investigate used ones online. That's where i found that Berwick had a cherry & a silver in the lot, both 34200 drive away. I pounced on the silver while another couple were pouncing on the cherry.
But loving the car, i'd say worth the wait! I only had to wait 5 days. Now, both Volkspower & Bob Jane's 400 day interest free offer are both calling...

Well spotted, Don! An eye for detail... Hope that's a typo. The manual transmission is the heart & soul of a true motoring enthusiast... Something like that, anyway... Maybe 'cause the tranny hasn't changed, the model code remains the same? (apart from the year part)?

Yet the 103 TDI 6 speed got a new model code and I wouldn't have thought there have been changes to its gearbox. I wonder what percentage of the Tiguan's overall sales were 125 TSI manuals?

A new Oct 2010 brochure for the Tiguan has just arrived in the mail that answers my question above. The 125 TSI manual is still available.

What is interesting though is that performance claims for most models has changed and not just because of the 7 speed DSG. The 0-100km/h time for the 103 DSG man remains at 10.5 secs but the 125 TSI man has gone up from 8.2 secs to 8.5 secs. I wonder why? There appear no change in specs such as weight or engine. It's combined fuel consumption has improved, down from 9.1L/100km to 8.7L/100km in the manual. The 103 TDI manual has also dropped from 7.4L/100km to 6.5L/100km so there must be other changes that aren't immediately obvious.

All auto 0-100km/h times are improved - the 103 DSG is down from 10.7 secs to 10.5 secs, the 125 TSI down from 9.2 secs to 8.5 secs and the 147 TSI down from 8.2 secs to 7.4 secs.

What I found interesting is that VW claim the kerb weight with only 10L of fuel. Is this the common standard used on all VW's?
