MY11 Tiguan DSG - Launch Control confirmed

Hi guys, I've been looking everywhere for information on whether or not the new updated DSG 7-speed om the Tiguan has launch control.

Our local dealer finally has one in stock and I just took it for a run around the block and can confirm that it definitely does have launch control. ESP off, hold brake, free revs to 3000rpm, release brake and after a brief pause it's off like a rocket. Exactly that same feel as launching in the Golf R with the 6-speed DSG.

Also dismayed to see that it doesn't have gear change paddles on the steering wheel . Does anybody know whether these can either be retro fitted or a Golf steering wheel fitted?

I think you hold the brake as well as the accelerator until 3000 rpm...

you stepped the brake with left foot and hold it yeah? or did you use right foot, stepped on it then moved the foot away? if it's the 2nd one as what most automatic drivers will do then it won't work... try left foot or maybe step harder to ensure that the car don't roll forward?

The procedure was the same as the MK6 Gti and R golfs:

Hold down the ESP button until you get the light on the dash.
Hold down the brake with your left foot.
Hold down the accelerator with your right foot.
Revs should climb to 3000 rpm and sit there. Should feel like it's in neutral when it does this, like it's free revving and not loading up like a torque converter in an auto.
Then you just release the brake, and after a brief pause it's off like a rocket.
The 125 I drove gave a small chirp off the line.

Let me know how you go. Is yours a 125, 147 or diesel?

is it possible that function can be enabled/disabled via VAGCOM programming?

I think I did exactly that, The car tried to roll off at 1200 rpm, and it didn't rev Ike neutral. It also felt like the accelerator has been overridden by the foot brake initialy. I have a feeling that it may have been disabled. Wi try again later today. Btw, I drive a 147.

Does any of you Who drives a 7 speed DSG feel that it stay in first gear t short in D mode? It always feel Like driving off in 2nd in a manual. However, I have only done 500km on the tig so I haven't step hard on the accelerator yet.. Interested to hear others experiences

Try doing it in S mode.

Otherwise, I'd suggest you do something about your uneven legs.
That is, left leg is a bit shorter or weaker than the right?

I finally got it to work! You have to turn off the auto hold.

Don't know about the DSG model as I have the old tiptronic BUT the diesel (tiptronic) always starts in 2nd gear in "D". The petrol models start in 1st I believe but the diesel has so much torque down low that it's unnecessary to use first. I would have expected the DSG to be the same but I don't know for sure. On the Tiptronic (here in NZ anyway) it shows what gear you're in on the MFD so you can see what happens.

DSG in D mode is program to deliver maximum fuel efficiency, as soon as you pressed the accelerator it will swap gear to D2. Press a bit harder then it will stay longer.
