  • 2 weeks in with new Tig - Sunshade Creases

    Hey Folks,
Had my new Tig for a couple of weeks now (TDI Cherry Red).. will post pics when I figure out how!
Just a few things I hope someone can help me out:

Is it normal to have creases on the sunshade when fully drawn? Getting some going across the width of the shade from about half way to the back of the roof.
Just afraid to open and close it too often thinking that it might get worse.. but that defeats the purpose of having one doesn't it?
The dealer guy noticed it on delivery but assured me that it'll stretch out and disappear.. still there..

There's some sort of while/creamy coloured goo along the length of the beam under the side doors, wonder what they are.. should I be worried?

Just fuelled up the for the first time last night... got 610km out of the first tank, 8.4l/100km on mfd, hope this improves!

Thinking about getting the windows tinted, perhaps matching the % on the sunroof.
Anyone know what % it is? Or should I just go 35%?

Thanks for making my decision on the Tig so much easier while researching here before my purchase. Was going to go for the x1 but now couldn't be happier with the tig!

Regarding the window tinting i would say 35% is good enough and legal.

20% verges on too dark at night time but keeps the car very cool from experiences in other cars.

The fuel economy should drop a little more (most are around 8l/100km for petrol)
The ecu is adaptive and learns your driving style and as such will adjust fuel useage from what i heave heard.

What base/options did you go with?

Normally the 'goo' is either rustproofing or lubricant. Cannot imagine its a problem.

35% is the legal limit for tinting.

VWs improve their fuel economy for at least 20,000 km, particularly diesels. BTW that's about the expected urban fuel economy.

        thanks guys,
Yeah.. really just want to match the sunroof tint, it looks to be even lighter than 35%.. maybe 50 or 60?
Anyone else with a sunroof that can check on their sunshade for me?

Thought I could reduce the trips to the pump if I went diesel but it looks like you guys with petrol versions are getting simillar figures!

        So what I got:
        103 Diesel - Cherry Red
        Beige leather
        Sunroof
        comfort pack
        fog lights

used the fog lights 1st first tonight.. when should I use just the front and when to use both front and back? and why only lit one side on the back?

I would just go 35% tint for the windows, functional and legal.

The diesel engine is okay but the petrol is quite frugal when driven for the conditions of fuel economy.
The other issue is the Diesel particulate flter which is an expensive part to replace.

          The spec's sound pretty good.
Aus delivered cars only have a single rear foglight in the rear (RHS) i believe
I don't see the need for any foglights but conditions may be different where you are.

I have the Sunroof in my Tig.

I have had a good look at it, and there is def no creases in the lining.

I would have the dealership check it out again. It doesnt sound right to me.

                  Nice looking ride.
The cherry red is a very different colour than most other cars on the road, makes it stand out as i have only ever seen 1 in real life and it was in NZ.

Have fun ont he run to Canberra.
The cruise control makes highway driving a breaze.

A Lego expo, and I was not informed?!

Definately get the sunblind looked at. There a few isolated issues with the Panorama roof versions, where excess glue caused the blind to jam and gather up in the tracks. Not fun to replace, either.

Could almost look the same if you plastidip the front grill. Lol

In my opinion you do not need to tint the roof as it will be too dark at night.on hot days you will have the shade cover closed ,in the mornings on the way to work and home late afternoon no extra tinting is required , so this probably leaves only 10% of the othertimes you may be driving for which you are trying to account for. And as I said you will be sacrificing your driving experience whenever you drive at night for this 10% which would be a pity. You'll miss the stars IMHO

Oops, meant tinting the usual windows.. I see how my sentencing can be confusing though!

Had a fun drive today. Filled up before the trip, did 574km return Sydney-Canberra.. averaged 6.2L/100km, Still say I've got 330km left on the tank. Pretty happy with that, pulled my total average down to 7.7L/100km but only've done 1500~km.
team_V- yeah the cruise control made the trip such a breeze.
thanks guys for your comments on the sunblind.. will get that checked out soon.
