  • HELP! Unsightly Microphone (Kufatech) fitted by dealer

    Hi Guys,

I got my Kufatech Bluetooth kit (finally) installed for my RNS 510 on my Tig and
the guys said it would take 3 hours to install. 45 mins later I got a call and they
    said all done.

I found out later that the MFD was not connected and I couldnt answer phones
off the steering wheel and when I took it back I noticed a microphone with a wire
double sided taped to the stering wheel (at the base) when I asked "What the hell"
they said that they didnt install it in the roof (near the lights) because people complained that they coulndt be heard but the Kufatech has a mic volume?!??!

Help please from anyone who has had one isntalled

Not happy jan to say the least as i want it all to be neat and tidy.

Hi i have this system and am very happy with it and can install it in 10 mins lol.
There is no connection to the MFD.It is linked automatically once you connect it to the RNS510 via the canbus.

Do you have a white MFD/DIS ?? as my understanding is that it will only work with the RED MFD,and this may be the reason you have lost some functionality.

As with the mic positioning- the Kufatec mic is not designed to work in the OEM position.Your option are to buy either a OEM mic and pay extra for installation or you can mod the Kufatec mic by removing the outer casing and re-encasing it in high density foam before fitting in the overhead section. Both do able DIY tasks if you are that way inclined.

      Hello mate,

thank you so much for the reply! hey have fixed the MFD problem but now I am still trying to sort out the Mic. I have an OEM mic because of the voice command functionality with the star button (worked even before the bluetooth kit) and Kufatech manufacture that one, so cant the same one be used?

Thank you so much for all your help!

I have same siystem, originally install the kafatech mic in the overhead position worked fine then upgraded the the RNS 510 firmware to accept voice control, tried passing kafatech thru the rNS phone would work but voice control was useless upraded mic to OEM , voice control ok but phone useless. ended using both mics kufatech to kufatech ,oem to RNs510 , mounted 2nd mic (kufatech) in rh click in panel above 510 . had to put series of small holes in panel. the back of the panel looks like it has been molded to accept the OEM mike

Thanks so much Ted and Borbor,

Sitting at the dealer now and they ordered me an OEM microphone and are installing it while I wait so HAPPY DAYS as mounting
a small mic on my column that was obviously designed for a Chipmonk looked very wrong!

Dont know if you guys would know but is there any way to activat the button that looks like a phone on the steering wheel?

They say with the Kufatech one that you cant but surely you can no?

          Again many many thanks guys!

Of course you can,it answers and hangs up the phone with your kufatec BT.Your dealer should have done it for you.

Agree with Borbor. I self installed and and just followed the install instructions ( I have a Vagcom interface which enabled me to program the computer) and the phone button worked as Borbor describes for answer and hangup. needed to cold boot the RNS510
