125 TSI Tiptronic

Guys I've searched the forums, read the manual, and the answer must be obvious but I'm having difficultly getting the 125 TSI Tiptronic working on my Tiguan.

In the driving manual it show another model with the paddles on the steering wheel, unsure if this is an OS model... anyway looks as if on the 125 TSI it's just moving the auto gear stick up and down when in drive however this isn't doing anything.

Stupid question here mate... you have shifted the gear stick horizontally to the left right?
