Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Tiguan paint code

    Could somebody help please.

I understand that the paint number (code) is in the service schedule book on a sticker, item 3.

The booklet says at the bottom of the page -

Item 3 - gearbox code, paint number, interior equipment, engine output, engine code.

    The sticker shows -

    3. BOR C9U GOR HUS J1L D6G
    - 1AT 1G9 2ZB 1NP SRV 5SJ TQ2 and possibly more on following line which may or may not be considered to be item 4.

Now - I have no experience in breaking German codes, I was born after the war.

My car is Mountain Grey. Do you think my paint number is C9U ?

    Thanks

    Joe

THe paint code is a 4 character code on the line above , If yours is similar to mine the lines are misaligned
Usually hidden around the spare tire on a paper tag and can often be loose or folded over. Can also be found under the dash.or in the service book Usually shown as a four digit code, though it is possible that there can be a two digit code instead of or in addition to the four digit code. Either code is correct. Codes usually start with the letter "L"

GET a PR code interpretation of the codes from
PlanetVAG.com - VW & Audi PR Code Search

This site has a link to a pdf which shows a sample sticker

      .
      Hope this helps

          Thanks everyone for help.

I have found the sticker on the boot floor and decoded all my options on both stickers.

Strangely enough, neither sticker lists the "real" options which I have, i.e. the Comfort pack and the Park assist.

My paint code is shown as "LR7N" , different from the previous poster. My Tiguan is also Mountain Grey, made in May 2009.

Does LST 0P2 C9X sound right for deep black pearl effect? I can't find the damn paint code anywhere in the boot.

No ... should be 4 characters and usually starting with L.

But if what you've described is officially called Black Magic Pearl, then it should be LC9Z.

Just did a google and apparently its LC9X? Googling LC9Z it seems to be VW Diamond Black?

It seems that LC9X is the paint code for deep black pearlescent effect if anyone else needs it.

I came up with the same result.

Anyone bought any touch-up paint recently? Would you recommend VW spare parts or is there a better alternative?

I believe there was a thread somewhere on the forum about an ebay touchup paint supplier who was very good.

Vw would likely charge an arm and a leg.

For something like that ... just go to the stealer.

From memory ... arm and leg was under $20.
