Smelly Tiguan - help!!!

I have a really smell Tiguan!
I have not left windows or sunroof open in the rain and wet!

The whole car stinks like wet dog !

the smell does no seem to be coming from the aircon


Any ideas

There was a thread on vortex that had the aircon/drainage channel leaking in behind the right hand side footwell.
It could be that.

My only other guess would be the pollen filter or mould buildup in the aircon vents due to condensation.

Just checked as per thread - NIL dampness or smell coming from either footwell!

any other ideas?

Maybe something stuck in the sunroof or the drainage lines for the sunroof?

This may be a long shot - but my old boss had a big Audi (Q7???) and there was a mouse living in the cabin somewhere, it ate through a rubber seal.
I used to drive it, and man it smelt funky... Especially when the heater was on.

My bet would be on a faulty sunroof drain.Often stories of them not being connected in the factory!. From memory i think you can actually see the drain if you open the right hand side flap in boot.It should be fairly deep in there so get a torch. Get someone to slowly poor water on top so you can see if it will drain out the tube.

Sorry to hear about this issue. Water leaks and mustyness is my biggest pet hate in cars...apart from dodgy wheel alignmnet.

I would be taking it to the dealer for them to sort out. Get a loan car from them, and dont pick up yours until it is completely sorted.
That is what manufactureres warranties are for.

As per my post here (http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f97/...tml#post569563), my smelly aircon problem has just been solved as part of the 30,000km service where the dealer changed my air and pollen filter. So try that and see if it fixes it.

My new sheepskin seat covers smell a bit ordinary after locked up & parked in the sun all day... A bit sheep-like, to be honest... What do sheep use as a deodorant?

I bought rubber boot matt from Repco for $39 which looks really good but after just one day in the Tig I had to take it out. It is now outside for 4 weeks and still stinks like hell.
