Globe Warning Light 09 Tiguan

Hi

I've recently had a blown globe warning light appear on my wife's 09 Tiguan. Soon after a message appeared advising to check the 3rd break light (assume rear window break light)

After checking all the rear lights I couldn't find any faults. I called VW and they advised that some of the bigger cars may have two globes in the 3rd break light ?

Does anyone know if this could be the case or maybe we have a faulty warning light...

David , I am having exactly the same problem with my 09 Tiguan ,147 TSI . I`ve also had the warning light come up as well as the message in the MFD. I cant see any globes out.
The cars approx 900 K`s away from a service so I will have it looked at then.

Thanks Paul, I wondered if someone else had the same issue. My wife's car is 4000K's away from a service, so I may get it looked at before that, as we also have a couple of rattles that need looking at.

Same issue on my new Tiguan 125TSI

I picked up my new Tiguan last Saturday and on the very same day got a "Bulb Fault" error and on the MFD
showing that it's the 3rd brake light. The fault is only showing intermittently and then clears itself after a
few seconds each time. Taking the car in to get it checked in a couple of weeks will let you know what
they say.

Some infor on the "Bulb Fault" "Check Third Barake Light" issue

Spoke with and ex VW service guy last Wed. and he said it was a common problem across Golf's, Touareg's
and Tiguan's. He explained that it's most likely a loose connection in one of the rear brake lights and that
all the service guys will do is clean the gold connections with some stabulant to make a good connection.
However, he suggested you don't do it yourself as the top brake light cover can be very easily broken when
prying it open and you want to leave it to VW to then replace it.

The car has been serviced and had a new 3rd brake light fitted.

Hi All

Just had the car in for the second time, first mob at Penrith had no idea, however the guys at Five Dock were spot on and replaced the whole light as there was a fault with a circuit board or some such.
