Is that price included labour charge as well or just parts? Thanks for your info T&M

All inclusive. All done at my wife's work by "Jmac" (from this forum). I think next time we may have him do elsewhere as it's a very busy location and not really setup for servicing cars.

Austral VW Newstead and Poor Service Experience !!!!

In response to all those victims of poor service from Austral VW at Newstead in Brisbane be assured you are not alone. I have a number of mates all with VW Golfs that have gotten dreadful customer service in the service department when they have had their cars serviced at Austral and now I can add myself to that list. I recently made the mistake of having my car 2005 VW GTI serviced for the 105000KM service at Austral against my better judgement. The outcome was Alex trying to gouge me from the $435.00 service quoted to over $2800.00 of all sorts of repairs including a timing belt and water pump not yet required for preventative maintenance replacement + $1400 for cooling fans where one was not working intermittently. Apparently the technician (as they call them these days) as they are not really mechanics as such I suspect recommended a raft of replacements that did not really require to be done as yet but it was highly recommended..

I told Alex "Not a chance on this service" Then what do you know my car required a $15.00 pipe which meant that I could not get it back until the next day and then when I arrived at the time indicated by Alex the car was not ready and I had to wait another hour before it was.

This is not the worst part. Add to this the fact that the moment I get home the driver’s window unit is not working and whilst I am checking this the Drivers Airbag warning indicator comes on. The next night I go to drive at night and my left headlight circuit shuts down and activates the headlight failure warning lamp.

Coincidence ???.. I do not think so. The car has run fine for 3 months until I get it serviced and now all hell breaks loose.

I might have thought it was coincidence if it was not for the fact that this is so similar to what has happened with a number of mates at Austral that I will go out of my way for the rest of my life to ensure that no one who owns a VW ever gets it serviced by these shonky bastards !!!.

Let this be a warning to you all. Never take a VW, Volkswagen to Austral Motors in Newstead unless you want to be royally screwed.

My old man takes his 2005 XC90 to those pirates at Austral.
Is there anyone on the Northside who does Volvo servicing?

FFS do you guys think dealers try and sabotage your cars ?
Do you honestly think we want to deal with you ringing us up a few days after your
service saying your engine light is on or a bulb has blown.?
how do we set up a car to fail in a 100km or so ..?
and secondly what you think we need the extra work try getting your car booked in anywhere in brisbane
with less then a minimum weeks waiting period
and "vwman" your car is due for a timing belt and more then likely a water pump at 105k rtfm!
and yes your 105k old vw ****ter probly would brake some random vacuum pipe or inlet pipe while it is being service
because vw are not designed for aus conditions and there for alot of the engine components become very fragile
                Rant over.
and no i dont work at austral but i do work a vw dealership

well said clubby timing belt is part of service schedule at 105ks for an extra $100 chuck a water pump in there preventative measures .no point having to shell out upto 4 hours labour to pull your timing belt off to put a water pump on a year down the road. bulbs blow you dont know when there going to blow you often change a bulb at home in 1 room then a couple of weeks later 1 goes in another room. dealers are busy enough they dont need to make up work. at the end of the day its your vehicle if your not keeping the vehicle you dont have to do the cambelt you could stretch the cambelt out for another couple of years but like your headlight bulb you never know when its going to snap. just because the dealer advises you it needs doing its up to you if you want it doing or not.the airbag light wasnt on till youve tampered with the drivers door wiring making the light come on you might as well blame that on australs.
