Does anyone happen to know the production schedule for 2010 built Tigs? I've been told they are not scheduled until late March so wouldn't get one until July/August...

I ordered mine 28 January 2010, was told prodcution in May and delivery in June.
As prduction begins so late, they won't have a vin number for a while so we can't track it.

This is the response i got when i contacted them on 4 February, 2010.
The vehicle build schedule has not been confirmed yet, but it’s likely the Tiguan will not be built until early May. VIN number will be allocated to the car when it rolls off the factory floor.

Delivery is still expected for Mid June.

Everyone else seems to have a build week for the golf, passat and skoda though so i don't see why we can't have one for the tig.

Let us know how you go.

They're certainly getting build dates through for Tigs in GB, don't see why you can't ?? AND they're not nearly as far off as you've been told !! Have a look on mytiguan.com

I expect that we could get them earlier but it is just more convienient for the dealer to say June.

Seems like it is not just me though so that allays some of my fears.

I ordered my Tig in mid Jan and was after a 2010 Build. The dealer told me production was about to start and I could get the car in May. However the cars available in that batch have more options than what I actually wanted; and I would have had to pay more for the options I didn't need. He then said I needed to wait till July for a 2010 build with the options I wanted. In the end, I decided to go with the 2009 build which was available.

It's a pain in the arse isn't it.
Seems the only cars the dealers bring in that aren't allocated are spec'd up to blazes increasing the price from 37k to close to 50k.
I don't want or need any of that cr4p as i want a real driving experience so i have to get one built and allocated as they don't even have an 09 car in my spec.

I was told June delivery, if its later i am going to quite irritated.
Exepecting July now though since everyone else is getting told then as well.

Also have to take into account the extra shipping time as most of the ships go to england first, then africa, then australia, and then it sits on teh docks for a week, adn then you have compliance and delivery to the dealer.
On top of that, when it gets to the dealer, they are meant to do a pre-delivery check i.e. wheel alignment and all that jazz, and give it a quick and terrible quality detail.

So If England get theirs in april, add on an extra month and a half for all that and we get June delivery.

Well I've ended up settling for a December 09 build, just got the VIN and looks like its either been dropped off in melb or on its way to Port Kembla.
Had to delete park assist, not too fussed about that I only ordered it for the front sensors.

Hopefully not much difference in resale after 5 years between a dec 09 and a jan/feb/mar 2010...

it'll be worth it having the car in just a few short weeks!

Ordered my Tig TDI mid January. Was given the option of a week 2 build(once again with extras I hadn't requested) or a week 20 build. Was told a ten week wait for the one already built and therefore a thirty week wait for the next one. I opted to have fog lights and MDI rather than wait.

Ok so someone's dealer is telling porkies. I ordered in October and expressly asked for a 2010 build, so if they were making them in week 2 I should have got exactly my options and then delivered mid march...

Maybe not porkie telling so much.... I gave a list of options I desired, he checked around and found the colour I wanted with the options I wanted that another dealer had ordered ( I guess either on spec or someone else got sick of waiting) Some have been told they could order earlier than week 20, so you would have to think that in each production run only so many can be made and when the limit is reached you have to go to the next production run.
Just seems they could possibly make room for more to be made.

From what I've seen, Australian-bound Tiguans have roughly a 2 month time difference between the build date and the compliance date.

In saying this, we had a major issue with a customer who bailed on a deal only hours before she took the keys because she eventually read that the car was built in October '09, and complied in December '09 (This was after we'd fitted numerous big-dollar accessories). Regardless of the fact that it was a 2010 model, she insisted we order another car so that it had a 2010 compliance date on it.

                      Talk about splitting hairs.

If the VIN goes WVGZZZ5NZAW######, it's a 2010 model, regardless of if it was built in 2009.

My car is a 2010 model, built in 2009, and I don't know when it was complied. When I get insurance what year am I suppose to tell them the car is?

Umai Naa, I could see her point with it having a 2009 compliance plate if she was told it would be complied 2010. It's the old story of when tradeup time comes round she would still be told by the dealers that it was an 09 complied car and the tradein price would reflect this. I take it that she was not offered an extra cash incentive to accept the car as is. It's amazing what 1000 AUD cash in hand will do to a reluctant purchaser. That grand in the hand equates to two pairs of PRADA shoes you know.
