Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi peeps,

Quick question about the rear view mirror, there is a little green light on the rear view mirror - what is it indicating?

Also, what is the button on the back of it do?

    Thanks

Its for the mirror auto dimming feature. Push the button on so the green LED comes on and go for a drive at night and see what happens to the car headlights in your mirror Note: don't watch it so closely that you crash like I almost did the first time coz it's way cool

P.S The manual is your friend

Easiest thing is to leave it ON all the time then you don't have to think about it !!

It is always amazing to see how many people pay money for something they don't even know they have.

you do need to get out of brightly light streets though, otherwise it doesn't work if there is too much ambient light- well not as much anyway.

True BUT in brightly lit streets people aren't usually putting "high beam" headlights through your back window and blinding you which is what the dimming feature is to overcome. I find it does still work around town though and makes it look a little like you're looking through polaroid sunglasses at the mirror.

            Cheers

yep, that's why it's such a good system. I was just pointing it out for suparockin in case he tried it and found it not working because he was in brightly lit area.
