  • SD Card Compatability With 147

    Hi All,

Just wondering if there is any trick to getting the right SD Card for my 147.

Also, has anyone else used this option for a long period of time? Is it user friendly?

Is it best suited just playing massive playlists all the way through, or is it also good for playing individual songs within long lists etc?

    Cheers

The trick I used was to use an old SD card, because the new 4GB SDHC card came up with a card read faliure. I read that it was due to a the SD card being a FAT32 format, and the old card I used was just FAT & works fine however it is only 512 k. So I just copied all my songs on to the hard drive, then went back on the PC erased the SD and copied over more songs. Bit of a long process but the best I could come up with.

BTW - long time lurker on here after waiting 5 months for my Tig I picked it up last week. Absolutely awesome!

I am pretty certain the manual says that it takes an SD card up to 2GB. I have also found out that it works fine on smaller capacity cards. As far as playing goes it is the same as a CD. It starts at the top anp and plays from no 1. You can select random if you wish or you can just play individual tracks. I'm going by memory and I think to play an individual track press the selection button and just press the track you want.
I think they are great as you have more control over them than an iPod.

Not always you can by SD cards up to 4GB however if the reader only supports FAT (which is what it appears from a previous post) then it will only recognise partitions up to 2GB in size. You could of course take a 4GB card and partition it as two 2GB partitions but only the primary one would be recognised.

Has anyone had the problem of ridiculously long loading times when choosing the SD Card as the Media.

I bought a 4 gig SDHC card, loaded on a bunch of songs in both multiple folders as well as a large number of songs under one folder. It "processes" for over a minute before playing anything.

CD's in comparison take a while, say 5-10 seconds, but nothing like that.

            Am i missing anything?

            Thanks for your input.

              .
Hi James, not missing anything, it's just the way it is, frustratingly so. The other thing is the Random/Shuffle only works on one album, not on the whole card...;-[
And, as you say, even accessing the files/folders is very slow if you manually want to change tracks.
However, sound is good, and I'm not ready to spend 2k on an upgrade.
              cheers
