Trying to sort out insurance for when the tiggy arrives in May...much hair pulling.
QBE quoted $1,058pa with $550 excess and windscreen cover
Allianz quoted $969pa $550 excess and windscreen cover
AAMI wouldn't give an online quote due to too many factory options
Just plugged in the Allianz quote but changed the location to my old SA address (which was crime central) $740...WTF!!! If ACT has more car thefts than where I lived before, I'll eat a fresh dog turd...
All I can add is....Whatever you do, make sure you do not scrimp on the windscreen cover...With the sensor / comfortpack features you do not want to cover those costs on your own if a replacment is required. The extra cost for this windscreen cover is worth it IMO.
2018 Ralyee Green RS wagon. Fully optioned.
Previous vehicles:2015 Volvo V60 Polestar (my one detour from VW/Skoda!)
2013 Platin grey RS wagon / 2012 White Polo GTI / 2009 Black 125 Tiguan

Good point! I'll definitely make sure that we don't skimp on windscreen cover.
Our renewal just came thru and our inurance had gone up over 25% (from 751 to $942)! Apparently there has been a lot of claims with storms etc and most are going up.
I argued it back down and removed our windscreen cover (dont have comfort pack) but still a 10% increase with no change at our end. Interested in others experiences. I expect customers wont see reductions should insurance companies have a few good years! I'll be writing to them.
General insurance company compalinst aside, we've been happy with AAMI
lifetime rating 1
no windscreen cover (now)
$500 excess
not especially cheap postcode, quotes from others were even more
I go with RACQ and will be setting mine up with them in the next week.
The quote is $650 with future mods included, rating 1, no windscreen cover and $500 excess.
I am also a member with RACQ though so it's cheaper for me.
NRMA have the "we'll match and beat the cheapest insurance by 10%" thing on at the moment abnd they have been quite reasonable from what i have found.
My Tig is insured through work but our other car is insured with Budget Direct. I just put my details into their online quote for our Tig and for Rating 1, Over 30 drivers, quote came out at $629. Even if you chose not to go with Budget direct, I'm sure the other companies that claim to beat any quote by 10% (ie NRMA as quoted above) will have to beat the Budget Direct quote of $629.
Did the ring around again & managed $842 with windsreen & hire car options from RACV, vehicle is also on a lease which adds $100 approx to the premium because finance institutions call insurers to verify cover....they must have gold plated handsets......
Have you tried ING Insurance? I have better deal with ING compared to RACV.
Regards,
XTX
Hi XTX,
Tried ING & they came in at the expensive end.....obviously they didnt like my postcode...
Tried RACV again & managed another 10% off when I took out home & contents over to them as well.....previous insurer was not impressed when I ended up cancelling with them but thet were over $300 more just for the car let alone other savings on the other policy.
