Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    $680 with a multi-policy discount with NRMA.

It does depend where the car is garaged, some suburbs attract higher premiums.

There have been heaps of written off Golfs going through the auction houses and the same will apply to the Tiguan.
Water damage will see a car written off and there have been quite a few of these both salt and mostly fresh water.
      OK. Didn't know that.

$541 RACV insurance Rating 1, no multipolicy discount, discount for long membership (Silver), market value, $500 excess

Good point Simon, I hadn't thought of doing it that way. Thanks! The Tig is coming up for renewal soon so I'll be re-calculating the agreed value for sure. Bloody hell, 12 months old already where does the time go? Almost time to start thinking about a new one

ours $751 with windscreen cover and 500 excess.
This with with AAMI and rating 1 for life.
paid no extra for the APR chip mod.

From what I can see here that looks reasonable, but even allowing for the windscreen cover some others looked significantly cheaper, could be the postcode (know ours isn't one of the cheapest), but good to know, I'll have to checkout some of the other insurers mentioned here come renewal time.

Geez you guys have it good, in the inner west of Sydney it costs heaps more, so far best quote I've found is GIO for $1200!! Thats with glass and hire car adn $500 excess.
Seems better value than the $700 it costs me for my 93 camry at least!!

                Hello Guys,

Have anyone tried ING Insurance? It seems cheaper than most if you select nominated drivers. The quote I got is $932 with $450 excess. Any thoughts?

                Regards,

RACQ quoted me $660 with full disclosure of future mods and rating 1 (wheels, tint, chip, suspension, stereo)

ING won't insure me as I am under 25 and the Tiguan being turbo doens't help either.

Got my insurance from RACQ for $584, rating 2, bluecare member, excess $500, market value. No glass or car hire included. The price did varied a lot from one company to another. Highest quote for insuring Tig was $1200 with $500 excess still

Went with Western QBE and $671 (multi-pol., 4y repl, bonus protection, $350 exec, market value).
                            Had quotes with similar conditions from RAC $1,200 , SGIO $750 (2y repl) and Toyota/Allianz $785 (no-drivers <25yo).

Budget Direct is advertising $50 no strings attached if you get a cheaper car insurance renewal from one of the majors. I'm with RACV $576 (still) and they're $626. What do you think are my chances of scoring the $50?
