  • Changing oil in Diesel Tig

    Hi Guys,
I have the diesel Tig, and the sales guys told me to check the oil after 1000 km's - as the first few thousand km's - the diesel consumes a fair bit depending on how you drive it.

I read the manual (the A, B, C zones) - Mine looks fine now...

Just wondering when people started topping up the oil.

And also, what oil did you get, and where from ?

    Thanks guys

I am a novice when it comes to cars .... obvious...

My dealer put a litre container in the boot for me and one oil change and 15000 km later it's still there unopened !!!

    Cheers

        Thanks Transporter.
So what is in your opinion the best oil to use, I dont really mind about the price.

Had one full change at 10000 km (that was after 1 year of Tiguan ownership and they say 15000 k OR 1 year) and it hadn't "used" any and now I've done another 5000 k since and it still hasn't, so the 1 litre container is still unused in the boot !! So, basically mine doesn't "use" any oil or if it does it's too little to notice in at least 10,000 k.

          Cheers

I bought a 1 litre bottle from the dealer when I took delivery of the car after they told me it'd use some oil. Tomorrow I take her in for her first service at 15000km having checked the oil level nearly every 1000km's. If it has used any oil, it isn't much, as I have not noticed a marked change in the oil level. Like Derek, the bottle still sits unopenned in the boot.

I stongly believe it hasn't used much/any oil because of the way I drive it, making sure the engine is under load a fair amount and compressin braking down hills. It puts the rings under pressure and makes them seal properly. Or maybe I'm lucky with my engine... who knows

If you do it yourself get oil and the oil filter from the dealer and keep the receipt for any warranty issues (just in case). Otherwise I bought 5x20L of Mobil1ESP from Mobil distributor for a good price.

                Thanks to you all.

                Good advice.

I will also check every 1000 km's until the 1st service.
