Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Installing Sound System in Tiguan (Audio upgrade)

So am getting a new sound system installed in the Tiguan, it's getting the following gear -

Front stage - Diamond Audio 363.5 splits
    Amp - Arc KS125.4 mini 4 channel
Sub - Diamond Audio D3 12" (custom sealed box)
Amp - Arc KS500.1 mini monoblock
    Processing - Audison BitOne
    Sound deadening - Dynamat

The stock headunit does all the satnav, iPod integration etc so am keeping that.

    Here is the car -

And here are some progress shots of the sub box that FHRX are building...

    The sub...looks sexy!

    Some more progress shots

    Bit One.1

    Cable run

      Okay so its finished!

      Door dynamatted

      Fuse holder

      Sub box carpetted

      Sub installed

Big thanks to Paul and Marty who both went the extra mile to have it finished today, it was 9pm when they finished up!

It needs some tuning to get it sounding how I want it, but it was getting late so I'll take it back in a weeks time when the speakers have loosened up a bit.

I might get in trouble with the bitone controller, I think I've already played with it too much! Very addictive, and being a novice I think I've already stuffed it up a bit.

It sounds great, the Diamond Audio speakers are warm sounding and really tight.

The speakers will loosen up a bit as they break in, am trying not to push them too hard.

My German Maestros in the car are getting better by the minute, and the Dynaudio Focus 110's that I have at home have taken well over 100 hours to "run in" properly. In time they only get better.

That is exactly the sort of PROPER install job I would like. They look like very proffessional guys!

Can you please provide their details for all of us to use them?

                    Thanks

                        Just a thought...

Hey its probably a stupid question...so 'sorry' in advance...

My experience with all sound systems in the past is that the Amp heats up quite a bit. How will it cope with being hidden under the floor area with no ventillation?

the new digital amps produce much less heat, are more stable, and with equivalent output in much smaller physical size.

                              Audio upgrade in the Tig!

Hi Guys, I have an RNS510 on the way to replace the RCD310 in the Tig but while I'm at it would like to upgrade the speakers and maybe have a couple of "little" subs and a maybe one or two amps fitted too.... I know what I want when it comes to gear but I'm looking for an installer in Sydney. I am located in the Shire....
Guys, who do you recommend when it comes to reliable, honest and quality installs?
Tiggy 125TSI, 6 speed manual, tints, comfort pack.
