      warning

Just be warned: the VW jack doesn't fit on the jack points anymore when you've got (vw) side steps, so you need a different jack.

I'm actually a bit disappointed with the factory side steps. They look cheap and different in flash than on the screen. I'm thinking about removing them, since they have to be removed anyway if you need to replace tyre on the road. (though, they hold only on 4 bolts).
So, if some one is thinking about them as option, find the Tig with the side steps and take look, don't look just at the pictures.

Just as an alternative, I'm currently sourcing some OEM replica side steps straight from a Chinese manufacturer.

Whilst some may cringe at the idea, I'm prepared to take the gamble since they only cost me $283 USD shipped.

FWIW, here's the link for anyone who's interested: www.lingyu4x4.com
And yes ... they do speak and communicate in broken English.

                Cheers,

I went with the tape kind, as I believe that's the proper OEM style.
Interestingly in the VWA brochure for the Tig, those wallys have shown the Touareg version in the pic.

They gave me their wholesale price of $133 for the aluminium alloy step and $150 for shipping.

Just placed the order and transferred the money on the weekend.

Will hopefully arrive in a week or so and can post pics and thoughts then.
But unfortunately, I'm still waiting for my Tig to be delivered in Dec.

This is just one of those pre-delivery purchases to make the time go by.

They look much better than OEM from VW dealer I got with my Tiguan at the cost of $850.
I found there the rear guard for the Touareg that looks like the OEM I was quoted ridiculous amount of money on.
Also universal side bars might be the interest to the T5ers.

I would be very interested at your feedback once you fit them.

Copied that link to our first stop thread it is under the Off road heading -off road suppliers. Thanks aussietig - good find.

No worries Transporter! Hopefully it does turns out to be a good find (once arrived).

Yep.... found this out yesterday.. walked out the front to find the rear tyre flat. Attempted to use the VW jack but it will hit the side steps while raising the car...
