Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

My wife's Golf MkV has black leather and I have treated them twice in the 3 years and they still look good. The Tiguan seats are far more comfy and padded better so I expect a longer life. What does wear quickly is the sides of the seats where you get in & out of the car. This is also where cloth seats would wear also so like you say, the extra $4K for leather just means a monthly clean and wipe down. At least you can wipe the seats clean unlike cloth if you spilt something staining, mind you Kitten upholstery cleaner is fantastic stuff. I use it for gas strut chairs in the house.

Good point about penny pinching and those dam hooks. Next thing they'll be going cheaper plastics like KIA. I am definately now writing a letter to VW Aust and state my unhappiness in my initial complaint handling re the baggage hooks. PS I still love the leather but Black is best, mind you I was tempted with a Red Tig and cream leather, looks good for a female drivers Tiguan IMO.

      Hi All

I have had the "Xfactor" applied. All the stains have come off and it has taken the Tig to anew level. However, I don't think it is apermanent solution to the staining. i will keep a close watch on the staining and intend to hold the dealer to the 'lifetime" warranty and will keep going back to them.

In the end I agree it is a cleaning job every two weeks and find a trouser that doesn't stain the seats!!!

      Thanks for all your posts.

Well, this weekend I decided to clean and treat my tan leather interior and noticed marking near the base of the backrest. I can only figure it's been caused by my black leather belt:

I used Autoglym leather cleaner followed by Autoglym leather care cream, but the cleaner didn't get rid of it
Do you guys think this X-factor stuff will get it off? Or am I stuffed? I'm really disappointed with this as I thought I was looking after the leather quite well till now.

Nope, that's the infamous 'Blue Jean Rub' any pair of blue jeans will do it.

I tried almost everything to get the BJR off my SAAB, when I complained to the dealer he thought everyone knew about it - obviously we dont or no one would buy cream leather!

            Hi

The "X Factor" completely removed the stains from my beige leather. I had marks similar but to the back of the seat (obviously made by the leather wallet sticking out). I have worn jeans since then and have noticed it hasn't stained the leather much.

I won't completely endorse "X Factor". I also think that the stains came off easily due to the newness of the leather and the staining.

If you have a few xtra dollars try it. it comes as a pack and does the whole interior and exterior.
