In Victoria I believe they have already done this. Apparently you can have Fog lights only on foggy conditions but not both lights, like you say WTF. Can't remember but think the Tig only allows this. Just another revenue collector excuse. Wait until they bring in some law for Daytime running lights.

The Tig will allow parkers on and fog lights as well.
I just don't understand the ruling though. It's not like the fogs are bright like high beam or anything. All they really do is light up close to the roadway. Seriously this is really a joke. When they say fog lights, are they meaning like big spotties on large 4wds? Surely they can't be objecting to the fog lamps on the TIG?

Fog lights have been illegal in clear weather for many years. They were covered under accessory lights, they have made it a separate offence I assume because so many drivers are unable to link the use of the "fog" lights to "foggy" conditions and mistakenly somehow it means to use any time except in "foggy" conditions.
Why would you complain about paying for fog lights as you can still use them in the intended conditions which is foggy weather.
Surely you didn't buy them to use them during clear conditions?
We have the same issue in the UK...as you say they are FOG lights intended for use in FOG but you get certain individuals who want to use them all the time along with any other extra lights they might have fitted badly, causing discomfort and danger for other road users..
Rant over and hi to all from the UK
