Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

agree 100% sharkie, that's exactly how I feel. Everything I've done seems to work so well that it doesn't feel modded at all - just feels like a very sharp package that works on many levels.

I've had a rear sway bar on my last 3 cars, Liberty, Forester, Golf.
With the Liberty, and even though it was a Whiteline bar, the biggest difference was when I took it off prior to selling!

Had both front and rear on Forester (whiteline) and Golf (H&R adjustable), but just the rear on the Tig.
Because I drive down (and up) a range to work every day, I wanted to lower the body roll. It's a noticable, but not huge, improvement and that's why I'm curious about the H&R springs.

I’m hoping that together with the springs I will be in Tig heaven…

      cheers

I reckon the two would be a good mating. The thing I noticed the most with Neuspeed bar on the VR6 was how much more steering I had, most of the understeer disappeared. Did you notice much of an improvement here? e.g. less understeer?

Yes, forgot to mention that. In all the cars it made a big change, much more neutral handling

            where to get springs?

where did you guys get the H&Rs and what did you pay for them?

not in a rush, so doesn't really matter where they come from, but a good price is very welcome...

            are they difficult to install?

I got mine through GTi Dave on the forum here. Delivered via courier to the door in a few days. Under $400 from memory - had an October sale (better hurry!).

Also will add big props for GTI Dave, good service and good price. Mine were about $460 delivered to my door IIRC but the exchange rate at the time was total poop so should be cheaper now.

Just got around to doing measurements, sorry John I've been lazy

From the ground up through the centreline of the wheel to the edge of the wheel arch trim is 735mm on the front and 745mm on the rear. See crappy diagram below

thanks mate. Interesting. Mine are now just under 725 on the front and 726 on the rear - call it 725 front and rear I guess.

pics of the old Tig, and then after H&R's fitted (no, the new pic is not stretched - although it looks it, must be an optical illusion).

                    and the new:

there aint no poke, they sit nice tight inside the guards just like they should (where did you find those spacers again?).

But I'll try and take some more shots just because I'm feeling for you at the moment (guess you could try some sand bags to drop the height a bit more )

sorry about the quality, it's dark outside now. If you want some more shots, I'll grab them tomorrow

Thanks John that's a sweet stance! Now should I get 18"s or 19"s

I got the spacers off US ebay, there's heaps of them on there. You should be able to get them for between US$70 and about US$120 shipped per pair depending on brand and width etc. Looking at your wheels though I don't think I'd bother, looks schmick as eh bro
