I don't get it. Is this a replacement haldex system for 4Motion Tiguans? Or is it a controller for different modes?

The way I read it is that the new haldex units have arrived plus they have remote control units in stock as well for those that want to fit them to their new haldex unit to allow changing of the mode the haldex is in rather than leaving it in say sport all the time or having to crawl under the car to change it.

does this unit allow the setting of torque transfer?

for example say sport mode, will make it drive at a constant AWD with 50:50 split and some characteristic tweak when taking off?

From what I read it's NOT a new haldex unit but a set of programs that alter the haldex settings for torque transfer, much as the APR tuning allows different settings for different fuels and performance. If you read all the info I think it explains that pretty well.

Depends on how you define it.

The New Haldex units (which includes the electronic brain & clutch pump actuators) has a multiple map ability (on the new "brain") it also has new pumps which are calibrated to act differently when told to by the brain.

Hope this helps (rather than confuse!)
