Did anyone get the PIN for their head unit when you got your tig, with my polo it was on a little card in the owners manual, my tig folder does not have one, from what i understand you dont need to put a PIN in unless you try to install the Head unit in another car,so guessing this is why it does not have one?

Yes, that's most likely how it is, from 2006 on the security PIN is stored in ECU, when you disconnect your audio unit and reconnect it back, ECU automatically recognize it.
The best one to ask if there is a way how to get the PIN would be Umai Naa!! or Maverick.Last edited by Transporter; 10-10-2009, 12:14 AM.Performance Tunes from $850Wrecking RS OCTAVIA 2 Link

I never had the pin for my headunit in the Polo (07' build). The first time the battery was disconnected it took it about 4 days to relearn the pin, without me doing anything to it. The 2nd time it took 1 day, then after that it relearned the pin faster to the point where if I disconnect the battery now it will relearn the pin in about 2 minutes.

When I had my speakers and amp installed in the Tig I asked the dealer for the pin code and they said the only way you could get the stereo working after being disconnected was to bring the car in and they would have to hook it up to the diagnostic computer.
Sounded like a giant load of bollocks to me but the installer managed to keep the power to the unit whilst he was doing it anyway so no dramas.2008 VRS Wagon. Yellow, very yellow!

Ok, it doesn't happen all the time, but occasionally, when the headunit is removed, it will require the PIN code.
There are two ways of obtaining the PIN.
1) If you've got a phobia of dealerships, remove the radio and write down the serial number on the top side. (Should start with VWZ...). Supply this, and your VIN number to your VW dealer, and they will give you the code.
2) Take the car in, and they'll hook the diagnostic computer up, and they'll do it for you (Usually for a small fee).'07 Transporter 1.9 TDI
